Consider a circular furnace that is 0.5m long and 1.0 m in diameter. The top surface (surface -1) of the furnace has an emissivity of 0.5 and a power input of 1x105 W by radiant heaters. The side walls (surface -3) consist of well-insulated refractory material, while the bottom consists of the steel plate (surface -2), which has an emissivity of 0.8. Assume diffuse, gray surface behavior for the heater and the plate and the bottom steel plate is at 350 K. Answer the following questions: (a) Compute the view factors F12 and F33
(b) Draw the radiation network for this problem
(c) By doing the energy balance for the 3 nodes, compute the radiocities (J1 and
J2) for top surface and the bottom steel plate.
(d) Compute the temperature of the top surface (T1).

Apiping systems consists of 6 m of 6-std type k and 12 m of 4-std type k, both drawn copper tubing. the system conveys ethylene glycol at a rate of 0.013 m3/s. the pressure drop across the system is to be calculated. there are two 90° elbows in the 6-in pipe, a reduction from the 6-in pipe to the 4-in pipe and four 90° elbows in the 4-in pipe. all fittings are soldered (same as flanged) and regular. the inlet and outlet of the system are at the same height.
