In a chemical plant 240kmol combustible gas mixture with 20% excess air is fed into a burner unit. The gas product from the burner is cooled to remove all the water to
yield a dry gas. The Orsat analysis of this flue gas shows that for every 2kmol CO2
produced; 3kmol CO is produced. (Ratio of CO2 /CO produced is 2/3)
Analysis of the combustible gas mixture fed into the burner: 60% CH4, 20% C2H4, 10%
CO, 5% O2 , 5%N2
2.1 Calculate the amount of water removed from the system (kmol)
2.2 Calculate the amount of air fed into the system (kmol)
