Assume you are employed by General Motors as an Automotive engineer and you have been assigned the task of designing an electronic control circuit to power the electric motors used to raise and lower a convertible top. By design, the convertible top position is controlled by twin electric motors that are identical and both operate at the same time. Also, both electric motors require the same amount of amperage during operation. By design, the electric motors are powered by an electronic circuit that utilizes transistors to switch the high current instead of using one or more relays. The circuit is controlled by a small dash rocker switch that is capable of switching a maximum of 1 amp. One direction of the switch withdraws the top and the other replaces the top to a sealed position. Each motor draws 20 amps under normal operation and a surge of 25 amps. As the motors get old it is estimated that each motor will pull a surge current of 35 amps. Your circuit must provide 7 amps more than the aged surge current for circuit safety. It is your job to design an electronic circuit to operate the dual motors. You must design the circuit by selecting components from the list below. The electric motors are dual direction and have two positive inputs labeled A and B, one for each direction, and a ground. This requires a circuit for each direction the motor operates. You must select semiconductors from the following list: a. PNP Transistor: Imax - C/E

Apump is used to circulate hot water in a home heating system. water enters the well-insulated pump operating at steady state at a rate of 0.42 gal/min. the inlet pressure and temperature are 14.7 lbf/in.2, and 180°f, respectively; at the exit the pressure is 60 lbf/in.2 the pump requires 1/15 hp of power input. water can be modeled as an incompressible substance with constant density of 60.58 lb/ft3 and constant specific heat of 1 btu/lb or. neglecting kinetic and potential energy effects, determine the temperature change, in °r, as the water flows through the pump.
