Consider the compression step of an ordinary vapor compression cycle using ammonia as the working fluid. The inlet to the compressor is saturated vapor at 10 C and approximately 6.25 bar, the outlet is superheated vapor at 10 bar. Approximate the non-ideal PVT-behavior of ammonia in this region by the van der Waal’s EOS. Using the data Tc = 132.4 C, Pc=112.8 bar, and Cv=36.1 kJ/kmol-K (and no other data). Required:
Derive a set of equations that can be solved simultaneously for the temperature of the outlet stream, assuming the compressor is reversible.

An open feedwater heater operates at steady state with liquid entering at inlet 1 with t? = 40°c and pl = 1 .2 mpa. water vapor att2-200°c and p2 = 1.2 mpa enters at inlet 2. saturated liquid water exits with a pressure of pa 1.2 mpa. neglect heat transfer with the surroundings and all kinetic and potential energy effects, determine the mass flow rate of steam at inlet 2 if the mass flow rate of liquid water at inlet 1 is given as 2 kg/s.
