A planar steam-water heat exchanger is on a 1.5 m2 heating surface and consists of a 5 mm thick copper plate (k=390 kcal/mhK) and an 8 mm thick nickel plate (k=70 kcal/MHK) adjacent to it. On the side of the copper plate there is steam at a temperature of 3200C, and limestone was formed due to deposits in the Steam. Due to Limestone, there is an additional thermal resistance of 0.005 m2hK/kcal against heat transfer. On the nickel side, there is water at a temperature of 400C. Heat transfer coefficients on the Steam and water side are 7000 and 600 kcal/m2hk. a) find the amount of heat passing, surface temperatures and intermediate temperatures Dec.
b) what would be the amount of heat passing if it wasn't for Limestone? In this case, what is the percentage of heat loss due to Limestone?
