An aluminum cylindrical tank having a total weight of 130kN including its contents is supported by 4 wooden posts arranged in such a way that the foundation will form a square having a side of 3m. The wooden posts is battered at 1 horizontal is to 5 vertical. Assume unsupported length of 3.5m. The tank is subjected to a wind load of 200kN acting at a distance 7m from the concrete foundation treating the posts to be hinged on both ends. The posts has an allowable compressive stress parallel to grain at 15.8MPa and a modulus of elasticity of 9780MPa.

a. Compute the actual reaction on the wooden posts based on the loads.

b. If the posts have an upper diameter D1 of 100mm and lower diameter D2 of 250mm, are the posts enough to carry the given loads?

c. If not, recommend a size to support the loads.
