You have a solid square copper ground support, 2 inch per side X 6 inches tall, and it is loaded axially (long axis)with 1600 pounds (force). You have instrumented one rectangular flat of the support with 2 strain gages (half bridge construction). The strain gages are made from modified Karma - Alloy K, that has a nominal resistance R0 = 350Ω, and that has a gage factor GF = 2.107.

a. Look up the Modulus and Poisson’s Ratio of Copper.
b. What would be the change in resistance of a longitudinal strain gage, and a transverse strain gage, under these conditions?
c. If the bridge excitation is VEXC = 10 volts, what are the ∆V outputs of the Wheatstone bridge, for 2 εL, 2 εT , and 1 εT & 1 εL
d. If you change to a Full Bridge design (four strain gages), what is the ∆V output of the bridge circuit?
e. Locate the strain gages in a Wheatstone Bridge schematic to give a - ∆V (minus delta V) output for compression!
