Acylindrical bucket of dia d = 1 m, height h = 5 m is initially empty. it is being filled with water flow from the top at a rate of q = 1 m3/s. the bottom of the bucket has many small openings. the flow through each opening is q = 0.01 m3/s. the openings are activated at a constant rate of n = 10 per sec by turning a lever. initially all the openings are shut. the lever to open the holes is activated at t = 1 sec after the inlet flow of water has been started.
(a) what is the maximum height of water in the bucket and at what time does it occur? b) will water in the bucket ever rise to a level of 1 m?

Two flowing streams of argon gas are adiabatically mixed to form a single flow/stream. one stream is 1.5 kg/s at 400 kpa and 200 c while the second stream is 2kg/s at 500 kpa and 100 ? . it is stated that the exit state of the mixed single flow of argon gas is 150 c and 300 kpa. assuming there is no work output or input during the mixing process, does this process violate either the first or the second law or both? explain and state all your assumptions.
