Project: User Testing a Product Prototype In this project you will create a paper-based prototype for a smartphone app, then ask a potential user for feedback. The app should have a fairly simple function, like rating course instructors or listing ski conditions. You will then revise the prototype based on the test user's feedback.

Assignment Directions
Map out the logic for your app on paper, then create a prototype interface of at least three screens. You may create it using PowerPoint or another graphics program, or draw it neatly by hand. Label all key elements (menu choices, buttons, etc.) with the actual proposed text. Be sure your screens depict the functionality of your app. Use colors to create an attractive app.

When your prototype is complete, ask someone to review it. Tell the user the purpose of the app, but nothing more. Ask him or her to explain to you what the buttons and menus will do and how they would navigate through the app. Do not give hints; the point of the test is to see if you developed an intuitive, user-friendly app. Take notes on the user's responses and feedback as it is offered. After the user is finished, ask if he or she has any suggestions to make it easier to use.

Next, revise your prototype based on any feedback from the user. (If you did not receive any feedback requiring changes to the prototype, congratulate yourself on a job well done!)

Assignment Guidelines
Create one initial paper prototype of at least three screens, and one revised prototype (if necessary). Write a paper of at least 500 words summarizing the functionality of your app, the user's test feedback, and the changes you made to the prototype. Finally, describe what you learned about testing a product design with a user.

Submission Requirements
Submit all prototypes on paper, clearly indicating original and revised versions.

Use proper grammar and spelling in your paper.
