Explain the following term ASCII

Essentially it is the test we enter on websites and applications. It is a standard that persists across most if not all devices that can be used to send text, numbers, and symbols between devices. Being persistent meaning if device one sends message: "111222" to device two, device two will receive the ascii text and know how to interpret it as the message. Device two's output:"111222".
