Your final written assignment in our online learning will hopefully be fun to work on. First, take a minute or two to figure out a couple of things before you begin writing. In the text box provided I would like for you to consider these two possible scenarios.

PART ONE: During your dream meal fantasy meal deal, you are about to enjoy a two hour long meal with anyone in the world (THAT IS CURRENTLY STILL LIVING). This could be someone you've always admired or been a fan of for whatever reason. It could be Tom Brady, Jennifer Lopez, Drake, Shakira, Becky G, you name it. Your answer may also be a good friend when you were young and a move separated the two of you for some time. It could be a relative that lives in Scotland or someone you've had a crush on and never asked out. Remember this is the " MY DREAM FANTASY MEAL DEAL" so the sky is the limit. Also, make sure it is someone still living. After deciding who this person would be, tell me why you chose who you did. Is there past history. Is it someone you've looked up to or been a big fan of? Also list 3 questions that you would ask during your time together. Also during this meeting, your dinner guest asks to talk a bit about yourself. What would you share that would be impressive to others and proud from your vantage point? Explain your dreams for 10 years from now. Have fun with this writing assignment. Oh, I forgot. After dinner the waiter asks for your favorite dessert on the planet...what would you order?

PART TWO: Part two of your "Dream Fantasy Dinner Meal Deal" has parallel ties yet an interesting contrasting twist. In part two of this writing assignment you are magically placed at the table on this dream dinner date with someone already deceased. If there was someone in your past that you would love to magically be able to share time with them again, who would it be. Maybe a grandmother that raised you during your younger years that died several years ago. Maybe Winston Churchill across the table to absorb great wisdom from by picking his brain while picking corn on the cob from your teeth. Maybe a powerful leader such as Martin Luther King or a baseball legend like Babe Ruth or shoeless Joe Jackson. Personally I would strongly consider going with Benjamin Franklin. I realize that may sound a bit shocking (insert lightning bolt here) but it think the dude would be cool. Personally I think the dude would be a real jokester. At the end of dinner, I would ask if he had a pocket full of business cards that I could pass out to all of my friends and his reply would be "Sure, so you only need two" O OUCHIE, Dang, this dude is bringin 'the rips for sure. I would get him back though. After not finding any business cards, I ask him "You don't have anything printed with your picture on it?" Then his face lit up like a light bulb ...he reached into his pocket and reached to give me a handful of...thats right "BENJAMINS" SCORE

Write part 2 just as you did part one including 3 questions you would ask and what you would share when asked to describe yourself. Talk about where you see yourself in 10 years and share what your all time type of dessert would be to order when the waiter asks after dinner. Have fun with this assignment.

Some of your friends have gotten into the burgeoning field of time-series data mining, in which one looks for patterns in sequences of events that occur over time. purchases at stock exchanges"what's being bought" are one source of data with a natural ordering in time. given a long sequence s of such events, your friends want an efficient way to detect certain "patterns" in them"for example, they may want to know if the four events buy yahoo, buy ebay, buy yahoo, buy oracle occur in this sequence s, in order but not necessarily consecutively. they begin with a collection of possible events (e.g., the possible transactions) and a sequence s of n of these events. a given event may occur multiple times in s (e.g., yahoo stock may be bought many times in a single sequence s). we will say that a sequence s is a subsequence of s if there is a way to delete certain of the events from s so that the remaining events, in order, are equal to the sequence s . so, for example, the sequence of four events above is a subsequence of the sequence buy amazon, buy yahoo, buy ebay, buy yahoo, buy yahoo, buy oracle their goal is to be able to dream up short sequences and quickly detect whether they are subsequences of s. so this is the problem they pose to you: give an algorithm that takes two sequences of events"s of length m and s of length n, each possibly containing an event more than once"and decides in time o(m + n) whether s is a subsequence of s.
