Why is water considered a base in the reaction between water and hcl?

H2o+hcl=h3o+ + cl-
h2o gains an h ion
it is a proton receiver
acid is proton donor, base is receiver.
water is a base in this case.

So what you would do is go through and add 3 teaspoons(tsp) 6 times because of the 6 tablespoons(tbsp). which will give you an answer of 18. another way is to multiply 3x6=18.
