Question: What is the short and long term impact of a forest fire on a population lodgepole pines? Story: The lodgepole pine is an evergreen tree that is common in the western parts of the U. S. The lodge pole pines has serotinous seeds, which means the seeds are tightly sealed inside their cones and will not be realesed untill they release the high temperatures of a forest fire.
