La sal común, cloruro de sodio (NaCl), es un compuesto sólido en el que los iones sodio (Na+) y cloro (Cl-) se enlazan para formar NaCl. Cuando el NaCl sólido se disuelve en agua (H2O), sus iones se disocian, como se muestra en el siguiente modelo.
