In science, there are two ways of sub-categorizing the physical properties of matter. These subcategories are known as intensive properties and extensive properties.
1. Intensive properties do not depend on the amount of matter present. Intensive properties relate to the type of matter and stay the same even if the amount of matter changes.
2. Extensive properties do depend on the amount of matter present. Extensive properties change relative to the amount of matter contained within a sample.
