Explanation:

1. A ship goes out of sight on the horizon because it goes too far around the curve of the earth to see anymore.

2. We have day and night because the earth spins certain sides of itself to face the sun and other sides to face away from the sun (aka day and night)

3. We have summer and winter because Earth's axis is tilted. Part of the Earth tilts closer to the sun when summer is here, and the other part tilts away from the sun when it's winter. (This is why it's summer in North America, when it's winter in Australia).

4. A year is measured by how long it takes a planet to orbit it's star. A year for Earth is 365 days because it takes 365 days for earth to orbit around the sun.
