A hydrate is a compound that has water molecules within its crystal structure.
Magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, MgSO4.7H20, is a hydrated form of magnesium
sulfate. The hydrated compound has 7 moles of H2O for each mole of MgSO4. When
5.06 grams of MgSO4.7H20 are heated to at least 300.°C in a crucible by using a
laboratory burner, the water molecules are released. The sample was heated
repeatedly, until the remaining MgSO4 had a constant mass of 2.47 grams. During
this laboratory activity, appropriate safety equipment was used and safety
procedures were followed.
Determine the gram-formula mass of the anhydrous magnesium sulfate and the gfm for the
hydrate?

Liquid ammonia is produced at high temperatures and under great pressure in a tank by passing a mixture of nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas over an iron catalyst. the reaction is represented by the following equation. n2(g) + 3h2(g) → 2nh3(g) changing all but one experimental condition will affect the amount of ammonia produced. that condition is a) increasing the concentration of both reactants b) changing the temperature within the tank c) decreasing the pressure within the tank. d) increasing only the amount of nitrogen present.
