13 Students modeled the formation and weathering of a volcano in the ocean. The students drew a line around an
aquarium to represent sea level. Clay was pushed through a hole in the bottom of the aquarium to represent the
formation of the volcano. Students then cut sections of the clay, using a small wire, to represent weathering of
the volcanic formation. Throughout the investigation, students took a series of pictures of their model.
