Describe how energy enters AND moves throughout the different trophic levels of an ecosystem

The flow of energy from one trophic level to another creates the energy cycle. In this cycle, energy is neither created nor destroyed. Energy flows from one trophic level to another. The primary source of energy is solar energy. Plants uses solar energy to produce their food by the process of photosynthesis. The food produced by the plants are consumed by the primary consumers. The plan eating animals consume food produced by the plants and they form the second trophic level. In the third tropic level the carnivores get the energy by eating the herbivores. After the death of the carnivores, decomposers act on them and the nutrients are ultimately returned to the soil.
