            Aluminum (Al)      and    CuCl₂

             Aluminum (Al)      and    MgCl₂

Aluminum would react with copper chloride because, aluminum is higher than copper in the activity series of metals. Due to this higher reactivity, it will displace copper from solution.

Magnesium is higher than Aluminum in the activity series. So, aluminum is less reactive compared to magnesium and so, it will not be able to displace it in the reaction.
