The energy needed to remove the most weakly bound electron completely from an atom is called its first ionization energy. In terms of the Rydberg equation, ionization can be considered as a process in which a 1 electron system in the ground state (n=1) is excited to a state (n=[infinity]) with the electron infinitely far from the nucleus. Calculate the ionization energy (in kJ/mol) for hydrogen atoms.
