Given that the boiling point of methanol (CH3OH) is 65°C and methyl mercaptan (CH3SH) is 6°C. You should predict that methyl mercaptan has the higher boiling point on the basis of greater London Forces, but the observed trend isopposite of this prediction. Explain why you don’t always use one type of intermolecular force to make a prediction.
