Electromagnetic spectrum is made up of radiations that ranges from extremely powerful and ionizing gamma rays to very weak radio waves.

It is a broad spectrum of different waves which have various wavelengths and frequencies. The more energetic the wave, the lower the wavelength and higher the frequency. Visible light is a portion of the broad electromagnetic spectrum within the wavelength range of 400-700nm. The sun emits the bulk of its radiations within the limit of the spectrum. This is correct and it provides the energy needed on our planet. All objects emits radiations based on their temperature.

Electromagnetic radiations found in the spectrum do not require a material medium for their propagation.
