But I do know that there were mammals that lived with the dinosaurs or appeared after the dinosaurs went extinct. Many scientists who study dinosaurs now think that birds are direct descendants of one line of carnivorous dinosaurs, and some consider that they in fact represent modern living dinosaurs, but this is only a theory that hasn't been proven.
