We will begin by observing in a quantitative way decomposition of baking soda (NaHCO3). When NaHCO3 is heated, it decomposes to Na2CO3, CO2 and H2O. In this experiment, we will decompose a known amount of NaHCO3 and measure the mass of the Na2CO3 produced (actual yield). We will then compare this to the theoretical value using the percent yield calculation.
