How should you dipose of the following items in the lab: broken glass, products of chemical reactions, and unused chemicals

Here are some guidelines for disposal of the following categories.

1. Glass

• Broken glasses should be clean, without odors or chemical debris.

• It should be collected in a cardboard box which bottom is taped.

• The box should be closed

• Label box "CLEAN BROKEN GLASS FOR RECYCLING"

• Contact the Custodial Services for removal of the box.

2. Chemical waste after reaction & Unused chemical.

• Disposal of such chemicals must be disposed of corresponding to the instructions obtained from the manufacturer or better still through licensed chemical removal company.

• A plan for disposal and procedures for chemicals disposal should be known before they are purchased.

• Based on the classification some waste should be held in the laboratory while others shouldn't be disposed during day light the characteristics of the solution.

• Overstock should be given to neighboring schools.
