Researchers from the department of industrial chemistry, ned university of engineering & technology has proposed a new chemical route for the synthesis of ethylene and propene monomers notably for the synthesis of polyethylene and polypropylene. the chemical reaction for the synthesis of ethylene from the dehydration of methanol was carried over zeolite catalyst and is given below:
2ch3oh--> ch2 = ch +2h2o
you as the students from the department of polymer & petrochemical engineering have been appointed in the above research to design a chemical reactor to achieve minimum yield of 0.5. your proposed reactor should include the following objectives:
1. choice of material for the construction of the proposed reactor.
2. choice of reactor, reactor dimensions, and reactor temperature & pressure in accordance with the proposed chemical reaction. also write a qualitative discussion regarding the effect of operating conditions on the method of operation.
3. weight of the catalyst and its regeneration plan.
4. environmental and safety concerns of your proposed design.
