Take this with a grain of salt. If I remember correctly, the sex chromosomes of one parent carry all genetic code that equates to one half of a child's genetic makeup. That's why a male and female sex cells combine. The combination of the sperm and egg give the future child both genetic makeup of both parents.

Now, diseases and such can be passed along to the child if there's a defect on the sex chromosomes, the only chromosomes that are passed to the child. A cut on the dad of the child wouldn't cause the child to be born with a cut since the sex chromosomes weren't affected.

Color blindness, on the other hand, is sex chromosome related and can be passed down to the child. Since the sex chromosomes tell the DNA how to grow and operate, there's a possibility that the chromosomes could tell the DNA to have color blindness put within the genes of the child since the parent(s) sex chromosomes have that.
