In a legal dispute, one party is initially presumed to be right and has the benefit of the doubt. Whereas for the other party, they bear the burden of proof. When a party who gets the burden of proof meets their burden, the burden of proof moves to the other side. There are different kinds of burden for each party in different phases of litigation.
