Go to the the cbo. gov website, under Get Data look for Historical Budget Data. Click on that and then download the information available in the table March 2016. From this table examine the trends in government revenue and spending and the resulting total deficit/surplus as well as debt. Examine the sources of these revenues and where the money is spent; the split between discretionary, mandatory and interest spending. You can examine all these same variables as percentage of GDP as well. You can examine other related variables available from the CBO as well. Try to highlight at least 5 things that you learned or stand out to you in terms highest and lowest, as well as trends over the years. Do you think that our current level of debt is too high? Explain why you think so. Also, how do you think it might be reduced and what might be some the problems faced in reducing the debt?
