At the HWENTIA METROPOLITAN ASSEMBLY, a resolution was passed in line with the provisions of chapter 13 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana. During the meeting to pass the resolution, the Lord Mayor, Hon. Alhaji Prekese reiterated that “no money shall be spent for any purpose without the prior approval of the local assembly.” In approving the budget for the year, the Assembly had authorized spending of GHS 1,300,000 for road maintenance. Later in the year, after the Assembly had spent virtually the entire budgeted amount, a major storm washed out portions of several roads leading to one of the Local Authority Schools- Offinso Kokoti Local Authority Middle School (OKLAMS). The school was inaccessible, and the Lord Mayor wanted to enter into an emergency contract to repair the roads. City engineers estimated that the cost of the repairs would be about GHS 350,000. If the assembly entered into such a contract, the total amount spent on road maintenance for the year would be greater than the amount authorized. Recognizing the need for prompt action, the mayor immediately entered into the contract without seeking prior approval. Required:

You are the owner of a local honda dealership. unlike other dealerships in the area, you take pride in your “no haggle” sales policy. last year, your dealership earned record profits of $1.5 million. however, according to the local chamber of commerce, your earnings were 10 percent less than either of your competitors. in your market, the price elasticity of demand for midsized honda automobiles is 4.5. in each of the last five years, your dealership has sold more midsized automobiles than any other honda dealership in the nation. this entitled your dealership to an additional 30 percent off the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (msrp) in each year. taking this into account, your marginal cost of a midsized automobile is $11,000. what price should you charge for a midsized automobile if you expect to maintain your record sales?
