FROM $5K TO MULTI-MILLIONAIRE Anne Scheiber was 47 years old when she retired from her job as an IRS auditor. With a
pension Income of only $3,150 a year during her retirement, she hadn't been rolling in the
dough. But by pinching pennies, she had saved $5,000 to invest.
She chose top companies making products she admired, such as Coca-Cola and Bristol-
Myers, and never sold them. She was famously frugal too, often stuffing her purse with food
the companies served at their annual shareholder meetings.
Anne never added more money to her account. She just reinvested the dividends she eamed.
By the time she died at age 101, her investments were worth nearly $22 million. And virtually all
of it was left to a nearby college she had never even visited.
