The ideal thing that the Product Owner can do is that communicating that the target cannot be achieved and ask for additional time to complete the stories as soon as possible.

Furthermore, the Product Owner can be informed about the conditions of the time limits. Although no negotiations are possible, the client can be confirmed that the stories amounting to Five could not be completed.

The Product owner must be notified that the five stories could not be completed out of the thirteen that were allotted and the completed stories be accepted for the projects.Either there may be time extensions that can be given to complete such stories, but since no negotiations are possible an apology must be conveyed to the PO for delay in completion.Along with an apology it should be assured to the PO that further projects will be completed well within the expected time and the team will thrive to complete such incomplete projects.

Hence, the right thing that can be done is that the communication must be made along with an apology and assurance that further projects would not be delayed.
