When the market revolution started, women were needed to work in factories. In the early 1800 women didn’t have a role in the income of their family. Having a girl was kind of frowned upon because it meant you didn’t have a child that could inherit said property. Women were usually married off and sometimes didn’t get to choose who they married. Their main role in society at the time was to be caretakers. As the market revolution started to boom and more and more factories were being built, women were called upon to fill in as factory workers. This was a big turning point for women in the US.
