As a junior congress person you have been asked to promote a bill to allow casino gambling in your state. there is much opposition to this bill. using distributive bargaining, discuss the pros and cons which might arise toward the passing or defeating of this bill. read the discussion question carefully. the question is not fully about the merits or negatives of casino gambling. how would you use distributive bargaining to defeat or pass the bill? either side is ok. there is no right or wrong answer. it's your opinion - just support it with resources. example: casino gambling may bring in crime and drugs but it also can bring in money and jobs. to satisfy concerns over crime and drugs - perhaps the bill can be negotiated to include funds for additional police and security and for additional social workers and programs to deal with potential drug or gambling addiction. in distributive bargaining there are usually winners and losers. but a good deal maker can use leverage to ensure those on the other side get something positive for it that satisfies their concerns. if you supported casino gambling bill and you needed a vote from someone who did not support it you could offer up creative solutions to win the person over to your side. just food for thought. i look forward to your creative solutions. don't just debate the pros and cons. your analysis needs to go further into negotiating using distributive bargaining.
