The general adaptation syndrome (gad) includes 3 stages. the first is when we become aware of stress. the second is when fight-flight prepartion occurs. the third is when negative effects of stress occur.

The general adaptation syndrome includes three stages the first is the Alarm reaction when we become aware of stress, the second stage is the resistance stage when fight-flight preparation occurs, the third is the exhaustion stage when negative effects of stress occur. During the alarm stage the physical changes in the body occur, while in the second stage of resistance these physical changes go back to normal and resistance rises and in the exhaustion stage , following long exposure, when adaptation is worn out, signs of alarm stage return, are irreversible and cause disease or death.
