The lionfish is a non-native species to the atlantic ocean that does not have many natural predators. in recent years, it has invaded parts of the caribbean due to being released from aquariums by people. it has been feeding off of the young snapper and grouper population. local fishermen are dependent on snapper and grouper. it is a big part of the local economy. how will the lionfish impact the ocean habitat, and affect the local fishing economy? a) the lionfish will eat the young of the snapper and grouper which will reduce their population. this will cause the local fisherman to have to find other ways of earning income. b) the lionfish will eat the young snapper and grouper which will increase the population of fish that compete for food with the snapper and grouper. this increase in other fish will not cause a change in the local fishing economy. c) the lionfish population will decrease due to the atlantic not being it's natural environment. the local fishing economy will go back to normal after this happens. d) the lionfish invasion will cause no changes to the ecosytem in the atlantic.
