Solar energy is renewable. what could be an economic factor that prevents the maximum exploitation of this resource?

An economic factor could be the cost associated with generating energy from sunlight. The main cost factor is related to the power-generating equipment, such as solar panels or solar heat exchangers, as these technologies are still relatively new and have not reached a stage of economical mass production. Transmission of energy to households is not a major cost and power grids already exist within most regions.
