Correlation is a statistical term describing the relationship between two variables. It shows whether two variables are related and the strength and nature of their relationship. A positive correlation indicates that when the values of one variable increase, there is an increase in the values of another variable as well. A negative correlation indicates that when the values of one variable increase, there is a decrease in the values of another variable. In this example, as the volume of nectar production increases in the five species of the genus Mimulus, there is also an increase in the seeds per flower and the visits per flower. Therefore, we can conclude that these three variables are positively correlated.
