The central dogma in biology has to do with the translation of the genetic information in the DNA molecule into functional proteins. The process occur in three distinct steps, which are replication, transcription and translation. Replication is the process by which cells produce new strands of DNA from pre-existing DNA. During the process of transcription, the genetic information in the DNA is copied into a single strand of RNA in the cell nucleus. This RNA then move into the cytoplasm [for eurkaryotes] for the process of protein synthesis. For prokaryotes, both the transcription and the translation takes place in the cytoplasm.
