The molecules inside a liquid can slip and slide past each other.
There are three states of matter, these are solid, liquid and gases. The molecules in the matter at these states are arranged differently as the result of the chemical bonds that exist within the molecules. For liquids, the intermolecular forces that exist within them is such that they are able to move about to some extent, that is, the molecules of liquids are able to slip and slide past each other as they move about but they are still held together by intermolecular forces that exist within the liquid.
