After I watched the images and read the information of the link about Meiosis and Mitosis. I found two interesting differences between those two processes. First, in the prophase
of Mitosis, "Chromosomes begin to condense, taking on the form that they are usually depicted
in four arms connected at a point. Each chromosome is, at this time, actually two identical
copies". While in Prophase 1 Meiosis the chromosomes attach to the membrane of the nucleus
and then pair up with their corresponding chromosome. At this point Crossing over occurs in
Meiosis which does not occur in Mitosis The second is that in Prometaphase, mitosis, the "The
spindle fibers from both of the centrioles attach to each one of the chromosomes," while in
Prometaphase 1 the "Spindle fibers of each centriole attach to one chromosome of a matching
chromosome pair". This means that the fibers from centrioles attach to 23 chromosomes.
