Recent news reports have described how some inmates sentenced to death died slow and painful deaths because the chemicals given to end their lives were not handled properly by prison officials. Other inmates have been released after being found innocent with new DNA testing, inmates who would have been wrongly executed. Should the death penalty be eliminated, or only improved? Is the death penalty a form of cruel and unusual punishment, and thus unconstitutional? Or is it a fair punishment for people who have taken the lives of other people? Give reasons for your answers.
