The nitrogen goes through the roots of a plant.

Nitrogen from the atmosphere goes into the soil before it enters the plant.

It's added through some of the following ways;

During thunderstorm

Through nitrogen fixation by nitrogen fixing bacteria.

Through putrefaction.
