Project: Evaluating Human Impact on the Environment: ALL ANSWERS (ANSWERS ON POST)
-->Repost because the original question got glitched after reporting an answer. I want people to see this so it helps :)

Part I: Launch the Coral Reefs 2 – Biotic Factors simulation. Play around with it for about 10 minutes to familiarize yourself with how it works. Then answer the questions below.

1. What does the simulation model? How do the components of the simulation model these ideas? Give an example to support your answer.

Answer;
A coral reef is an ecosystem where different abiotic (i. e., water, sunlight, temperature, salt, waves, etc.) and biotic (i. e., aquatic plants, shrimps, fish, corals, etc.) factors interact together to maintain the homeostasis of the system. With the decrease in pH of ocean water, the survival rate of corals, algae, and fish in coral reefs reduces.

2. When you decrease the pH in the simulation, the ocean’s acidity increases. What do you expect to happen over time to the population of the corals, algae, and fish in the coral reef as the pH of the ocean decreases?

Answer;
Coral reefs find difficulty in living in acidic ocean water. It is so because the coral’s shell that is made up of calcium carbonate is unable to sustain in an acidic environment. Not only this the skeleton of snails, clams, algae, fish, etc is also made up of calcium carbonate. Increased acidity leads to the death of these species.
(Continued)
Thus, the lower is the pH of ocean water, the higher is its acidity and hence the lower is the probability of survival of corals, algae, and fish in the coral reef

Part II: Read the text below, and then answer the questions. Corals, the basic structures of coral reefs, are affected by the increasing acidity (decreasing pH) of the oceans. When the ocean absorbs carbon dioxide, the carbon dioxide reacts with water and other substances to form carbonic acid. This process uses substances in the ocean that corals use to build their skeletons. So, the more carbon dioxide there is in the ocean, the harder it is for corals to build their skeletons. Ocean acidification can also destroy existing coral reefs.

1. Give two possible ways that negative human impact on the pH of Earth’s oceans can be reduced.

ANSWER; By Lowering the carbon dioxide in the air, and reducing the plastics that go into the oceans.

2. Conduct research to learn more about your proposed solutions. Be sure to look up information about cost, safety, reliability, and social or cultural implications when applicable. What are the pros of each solution? What are the cons of each solution?

ANSWER;
Plastic Research; Recycling plastic still means that plastic is being produced somewhere, Recycling plastic still means that the plastic is being used somewhere, which can have harmful effects, Plastic degrades in quality every time it is recycled, Plastic can usually only be recycled a limited number of times before it ends up in landfill anyway, Plastic packaging is one of the most common plastics produced and one of the most common plastics that become waste, but isn’t highly recyclable.

CO2 Research: Carbon offsets are not intended to be a substitute for direct action, but rather as a supplement—or in some cases, as the only available option. The airline industry, for example, uses a lot of offsets, since there is no practical way that commercial aircraft can fly today without the use of fossil fuels.

3. Which solution would be better to implement? Justify your answer.

ANSWER: CO2 Reduction would be easier to implement because it not only will help aid in the efficiency of some technology but will not be a dramatic change that affects the world as much as plastic would.

4. What sources did you use?
