List of Julius Caesar’s Failures

Caesar’s greatest failure/failing was almost definitely his vanity. Caesar was a genius both politically and militarily, but, like many great men, he knew it. Like Napolean and Alexander the Great, he knew he was strong and he let it get to his head, he thought it made him invincible.

This is what separated him from Octavian, where Octavian was cold and calculating, Caesar was hot and sometimes rash. Sure, he could think, you'd have to be an idiot to think he was an idiot, but that doesn't change the fact that he was ruled by his emotions. He needed to feed his vanity. To look at this I propose two examples. The first is the sentencing of the conspirators during the Second Catiline Conspiracy, the second is Caesar being offered the crown during the Lupercalia.:
