Neurons are the cells in the human nervous system that transmits information from one nerve cell to other nerve cell, muscle and gland cell. It exhibit three parts the cell body, axon and dendrites. The cell body of the neuron contains the cytoplasm and the nucleus. The axon basically extent from the cell body and gives rises to many small branches. It takes away the information from the cell body to the other cell. Dendrites present at the terminal end receives messages from other neuron. It brings information to the cell body. The synapse is a gap between the two neurons where the transfer of information takes place.

On the basis of the above description, dendrites transmit impulses from other neurons to the cell body while axon transmit impulses away from the cell body.
