Arterial PCO₂ do not increase during heavy exercise. PCO₂ or the partial pressure of carbon dioxide is the measure of the relative concentration of the gas in a fluid. PCO₂ do not change during exercise . PCO₂ will only increase for systemic venous blood pressure, not the arterial blood pressure. Alveolar ventilation increases with the same amount as carbon dioxide that is why alveolar and arterial PCO₂ do not change.
