The wind generally blows from a region of high pressure to a region of low pressure. This wind when blows in a much larger scale, that is moving from the polar region to the equatorial region, it gets deflected towards the right due to the earth's rotation about ts own axis. This effect is called the Coriolis force.

The Coriolis force is the force that occurs due to the continuous rotation of the earth. Due to this effect, the wind in the northern hemisphere moves in a clockwise pattern, whereas in the southern hemisphere, it moves in an anticlockwise direction.
