How does photosynthesis follow the laws of conservation of mass.

i know that it takes 6 molecules of both carbon and water (+light) to start the process of photosynthesis. i also know you end up with 6 molecules of oxygen. do you get 6 molecules of sugar as well? (seeing as that makes 12 molecules on each side of the "equation". )
